Hiking in the Everglades
Living in Florida there is no end to the amount of fun things you can do outside.
That being said, I think for most of us who actually live here, we tend to take that for granted! It's the "oh, we'll do that next weekend" mentality. But then laundry, chores, and errands take their toll and the fun weekend adventures get pushed to the wayside.
Last weekend was different. My husband drove us down to the Everglades and we did a 3.5 mile hike and it was so much fun! With sunshine and gorgeous weather, it's a crime to not spend at least part of your days enjoying what beautiful nature we have here. We were hoping to see lots of different bird species, but didn't end up seeing that many! I did spot a few alligators, a snake and lots of lizards :0 According to the signage and park brochure - there are a few panthers that live in the area so it would be possible to see one if you are quiet (and lucky!).
The Collier-Seminole State Park (where we visited) was clean, and not too busy. There is also a campsite and places to fish, rent kayaks, and even guided tours. I highly recommend if you are looking for a different way to spend your weekend!
